*Movie Talk airs the first Thursday of every month at 6pm during the KFAI Evening News. Also available via podcast
Your one-stop source for all things cinema
The mantra for KFAI’s Movie Talk makes it sound like the Wal-Mart of film radio shows, but far from it—we review recent releases, interview people in the film industry and dissect film trends, news and culture with a passion not unlike the guys at the used record store in High Fidelity. Whether you’re a budding (or seasoned) cinephile, the average moviegoer or someone who just likes to hear three guys talking about something they love, then Movie Talk is the show for you. With varying perspectives on what makes for quality cinema – thus providing a wide range of opinions and insight for your listening pleasure – Jim, Peter and Erik will keep you up to date on film happenings, events and films worth your time. There’s enough to worry about these days, so trust Movie Talk for your cinematic choices and as your Twin Cities film news source.
THE HOSTS:
Jim Brunzell was born in the 70's, went to school in the 80's, played sports in the 90's, and has been a film journalist in the 00's. He currently writes for Twin Cities Daily Planet, is a film programmer for Beyond Borders & Sound Unseen Film Festival here in the Twin Cities and lives in South Minneapolis.
Peter Schilling has loved movies ever since he was ten years old, when he saw “Citizen Kane” at the Temple Theater in Saginaw, Michigan. He was once the film critic for The Rake when it was a monthly print magazine, and now writes about movies for the Star-Tribune. A full time novelist, last year he published The End of Baseball, and is currently at work on both a graphic and conventional novel. He regularly reviews movies, old and new, at his blog The Bug and lives in St. Louis Park.
Erik McClanahan is a freelance film journalist and critic (and all-around film geek) living in South Minneapolis. He currently writes reviews and features for Vita.mn, Twin Cities Daily Planet, Secrets of the City, mnDialog and The Aspect Ratio. Cinema is his passion, whether it comes in the form of an obscure foreign title or the latest Hollywood blockbuster. He takes them all in—except for musicals, that is. He hates musicals.
